About
Annetti-Spaghetti is a small, artist-run shop based in Northern Va that sells fun, lighthearted merchandise inspired by food, video games, and Korean and Japanese culture.
It started in November 2014 when I first sold my work at a small gaming/Japanese animation convention. I found that I enjoyed it a lot and that it was very gratifying! I loved meeting fellow artists and new people, and personally sharing my own work to those who appreciated it. I started attending more conventions and used an old nickname “Annetti-Spaghetti” as a fun trade name and now it's my registered business name, too! I love creating and designing fun, unique products that I can offer at every convention I attend and online. Everything you see is drawn and design by yours truly. Most items I make myself in my home studio while other items are produced in small batches through other small businesses and companies based in the U.S.
I strongly believe that art, gaming, and food are invitations for meaningful commonality and friendships, and are wonderful ways to bring people together.
. I take inspiration from many people and places, but I really admire Satoru Iwata, the late president of Nintendo, whose core belief was that “Video games are meant to be just one thing. Fun. Fun for everyone.” I also embrace Anthony Bourdain’s philosophy that food is a universal language and a pathway to understanding other people and cultures as well as Chef José Andrés humanitarian view that food can be a powerful tool for diplomacy and healing.
Breaking bread with someone, whether it is through sharing a meal, a controller, or artwork, can help you learn so much about them- maybe someone you’d never normally meet or initially think you have anything in common with. I think art, video games, and food are unique, powerful keys to minimizing conflicts in the world, sparking more friendships, as well as fostering openness, peace, and a sense of community, I strive to demonstrate that through my work though inclusion of these various humble and thoughtful philosophies and my own values.
My mission as an artist is to to bring a little joy to everyday life and creating connections through my work, which I think is very important in today’s volatile, uncertain climate. Solidarity and our love for each other is what will save us in the end!
I hope that you'll be able to join me on my creative journey! Thank you for supporting human-made art and an AAPI, woman-owned small business!
